Northdale BATTERY JUMP START SERVICE

When it comes to towing, many motorists are confused by the basic practices of towing. For instance, do you know what to do when your battery dies? Well to put it in a nutshell.

A dead battery is a common problem we see in our auto towing service. If your car's battery malfunctions and the engine won't start, it could be a number of things-but rarely something you can diagnose at the side of the road without help. Here's what to do if you're in a dead battery situation.

What To Do When You Have Dead Car Battery

First thing's first; get out of the vehicle if you're inside. The reason for this is because there might be an electrical short that can cause sparks to emerge from different parts of the car such as beneath the steering wheel - something to keep in mind if it's nighttime.

It's a rare occurrence, but it's always better to be uber-safe than uber-sorry.

Secondly, remove the key from the ignition to turn off everything that might be on to minimize any chance of sparks while you're jump starting. If an interior light comes on when you open the door, turn the light switch to "off".

Now that you've turned everything off and are standing outside looking at your car to figure out what to do next, here are a few ways to determine what to do:

  • Check to see if other motorists have jumper cables or spare batteries they can give to help get your battery up and running again. Oftentimes a follow citizen will happily stop by and lend a hand to hook up their jumper cables from their car to yours and get you up and running.

  • If you don't have jumper cables or a spare battery, call Northdale Towing Service to help you out. We operate 24/7 and can come to your rescue with jumper cables and give you a jump start to get you on your way, at least until you get a chance to fix your battery issue.

  • If it's very dark outside where you can't see what's going on under the hood of your car, simply call Northdale Towing Service. Our technicians will be happy to provide their roadside assistance to help you fix whatever needs to be fixed so your car starts back up again.
